ARTIST STATEMENT
Noelle Holler is a contemporary realist painter of wildlife, landscapes, and portraits, working primarily in gouache. Her representational approach attempts to reflect the beauty and light of nature with scientific accuracy, while also emphasizing the patterns and bright colors of her subjects through an expressive and playful style. The beauty of nature, an adventurous childhood in Colorado, the stories and poems shared by her literature-teacher husband, family life, and faith in Jesus have all grounded and influenced her painting. Compelled by an effusive love of God’s creative work, her art is an invitation to celebrate a good and beautiful world.
BIO
Born in Colorado, much of her early childhood was spent exploring the wilderness of the Rocky Mountains; hiking, camping, and discovering beautiful views, wildflowers, and animals. Noelle developed a lifelong love of the outdoors and a habit of ready observation. Insect-collecting with her entomologist grandfather fostered joy in the unlikeliest of creatures.
She received her BFA in 2006 from the University of Memphis, followed by years of portrait commissions while growing and raising a family in Arizona and Indonesia, and now Tennessee.
Noelle is currently represented by Goetze Art & Design in Memphis.
